I loved the fact that the woman who fired up the internet was 86-year-old actress Rita Moreno, one of only 12 people who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. Sassy Rita (right) wore the Philippines-made gold dress she wore to accept her Oscar in 1962 for West Side Story. The morale of this fashion tale is clearly NOT to throw out landmark dresses in your life.

For those who have a total girl crush on Emma Stone (left) and her wardrobe, this year’s Oscars may have been something of a wet fish. She wasn’t nominated, hence she eschewed a dramatic dress for a Louis Vuitton silk suit of red jacket, pink bow and navy trousers. It definitely had the Marmite factor — you either loved Emma (29) for choosing something so different or you hated the jacket with its funny pleating detail above the bow.

Well I, for one, was pleased to finally see the grass outside my house yesterday... and Haley Bennett pushing the style envelope at the Oscars with her Christian Dior bottle green dress featuring textural, grass-like embellishment. I can hear the cynics rattling on about her having a lawnmower outside. The 30-year-old has long been a fan of Dior and the hard and soft elements worked against each other with the combination of long tulle skirt, ‘grass’ and the ‘illusion turtle-neck’ in mesh.
