MICHAEL CONLAN is set to take a step up in class for his third fight at Madison Square Garden on St Patrick’s Day.

Hungary’s David Berna, who has won 15 (14 KO) of his 17 fights so far, is being lined up to meet the Belfast feather. Conlan, who is now trained by Adam Booth, has won five from five.

Meanwhile, legends Kevin McBride and ‘Irish’ Micky Ward have been selected as honorary Ireland and USA captains for a treble-header of America v Ireland internationals this month.

Both nations meet in Boston next Monday, Springfield on March 15 and New Hampshire on March 21.

Former Irish head coach Billy Walsh, now with the USA, has named a top team for the series. The Irish squad will be confirmed today.
