TV dilemma for Dubs-Kerry clash

- Colm Keys

THE prime league game between Dublin and Kerry could yet be broadcast live on television after the GAA confirmed their re-fixture list which has their Division 1 meeting set for 4pm on Sunday.

A potential live broadcast was still being discussed yesterday as the new fixture list emerged following the postponement of the entire football and hurling league programme last weekend due to the adverse weather. But the Central Competition Controls Committee have left it open for the game to be televised by fixing it for a later afternoon start. The majority of Sunday afternoon games will start at either 2pm or 2.30pm.

The game has been moved from a Saturday night slot because of a Garda request as the Ireland/ Scotland Six Nations rugby match takes place on Saturday afternoon while a ‘Rally For Life’ is also due to be held in the city centre.

The live televising of the game has complications in that it was originally due to shown by eir Sport on Saturday night last, but Sunday is the domain of TG4, and the issue is uncharted water for the GAA.
