Water issues must be resolved
■ There is an old Irish adage that goes as follows: ní hé lá na gaoithe lá na scolb (never thatch on a windy day).
Praise may be ringing in the ears of our politicians, because of the manner in which they handled our present weather trouble. However, they must shoulder the blame for the situation regarding the lack of one of our essential items, water. Of course they will blame the weather, whereas the real problem is the lack of investment in the water infrastructure by successive governments.
There is little common sense in launching billions of euro in a long-term development plan while the essentials of life are not attended to. For once, could a government do something positive; spend some of the monies now, and repair the mess regarding us not having water.
