Author chronicles Garda station’s storied past
FROM the palace of the Archbishop of Dublin in the 12th century to one of the capital’s busiest Garda stations, Kevin Street has a storied past.
Now a snapshot of that history has been captured by author Stephen Moore. The Dublin station is due to become a museum, with gardaí moving to newly built premises next door. This has inspired Mr Moore to write the book ‘A History of Kevin Street Garda Station’.
“It is really a book to celebrate the stories of the people, the men and women and the gardaí at the station,” he said at the book launch at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, last night.
The building was originally constructed in 1190 as the residence of then Archbishop of Dublin John Comyn, he explained.

“It’s so steeped in history, the OPW can’t wait to get its hands on it,” said Mr Moore, who is also a garda of 14 years.
