Water pressure ‘back to normal by weekend’
IRISH WATER hopes to end water pressure reduction in the capital by the weekend.
Repair and emergency services have been working hard to alleviate the damage caused by the snowstorm last week.
A statement from the water utility said it was making good progress on finding and fixing leaks.
It added that the shortfall of 60 million litres of water, between production at plants and consumption by customers on Monday, was reversing.
However, the demand of 589 million litres per day across the region remains high despite the impact of restrictions which have been applied.
The company has called on users to preserve water and said restrictions were necessary to protect homes and businesses in Dublin and avoid widespread outages.
‘Boil water’ notices in eight areas across Co Waterford were also lifted yesterday.
ESB Networks said it had safely restored electricity to almost all of the remaining homes, farms and businesses that lost power during Storm Emma, with the last remaining pockets of customers restored on Monday afternoon.
A spokesperson said: “We are really grateful for the help and patience shown by all who lost power over the last few days.”
Roads across the country which had become impassable during the storm with snow and ice have also been cleared.
