...and failure to tap experience
■ In 2010, we had a major cold spell. After the thaw, it brought the same water shortage problems as today.
With that in mind, one would have to wonder why Irish Water – with the same people who were then in the county councils and their experience of the 2010 post-freeze problems
– did not think of introducing the supply restrictions a couple of days in advance and during the latest cold snap.
Of course, it would not have stopped a lot of those stupid people leaving taps running but they would have wasted a lot less H2O. Anthony McGeough
