Mary’s fearless words of wisdom

■ I salute Mary McAleese on her fearless stance on the role of women in the Catholic Church.

Her strong convictions needed to be aired and shouted from the roof tops.

“Go tell it on the mountains...” She and others have been beating a drum for decades, but the Roman Curia can’t silence her the way it treats outspoken clerics.

As a 76-year-old granny, I applaud her courage.
