SOW SALADS

For low-cost fresh salads at your fingertips, sow a salad seed mix in a windowbox. Choose a cut-and-come-again mix that can be harvested little and often, rather than all at once. Look out for mixes with rocket, mizuna and peppery mustard leaf. Also grow some edible flowers such as calendula and nasturtium to add colour and interest to the salad bowl.
