Cork Con v Lansdowne Temple Hill, (tomorrow, 2.30)

-

CHAMPIONS Cork

Con have struggled against their title rivals thus far this season, but against the table-toppers, they have an ideal opportunity to put that right.

Lansdowne have already beaten Con earlier in the campaign, while defeats to Garryowen, Terenure and Young Munster (twice) have left the Cork side trailing by 14 points.

Brian Hickey’s men, however, remain firmly in the hunt. Veteran scrum-half Gerry Hurley (above) has returned and along with Rob Jermyn, the pair have five tries between them in the last three rounds.

Jermyn will come up against Daniel McEvoy in what is a mouth-watering wing battle. The Lansdowne flyer brought his fine form to the international stage when the Ireland club team claimed an impressive win a fortnight ago.

Another tasty battle will be Scott Deasy’s match-up with Tomas Quinlan. Deasy, a Cork native, is the talisman in this Lansdowne team and if he fires tomorrow afternoon, his side should extend their lead at the top.
