‘GERRY’ GIVES McKENNA THIRD EASTER CUP

-

COLARHOUSE GERRY’S early pace proved vital in the Ladbrokes Easter Cup final at Shelbourne Park as the Owen McKenna-trained dog credited owner Jason Whyte with the €25,000 winner’s prize.

McKenna’s third Easter Cup triumph was really sealed as early as the first bend.

The leading fancies Good News and Droopys Noah were badly crowded on the run-up and Colarhouse Gerry just took the bend from Kilgraney Master.

Colarhouse Gerry was a length and a half in front of Kilgraney entering the back and by the line he had increased his advantage to four lengths in a time of 29.56.

Kilgraney held on to take second by a neck from Fast Fit Alex. Good News and Droopys Noah finished at the rear.

McKenna’s hopes of winning the Greyhound & Petworld Supersprint at Curraheen were dashed when Holycross Lad was crowded and Kieran Lynch’s Butterbridge Bex came along to win from Hazel Hill Star in 17.90.
