Allen set the jump-off pace with Gin Chin which stopped the clock in 38.74 seconds. But his friend and tutor, Germany’s Marcus Ehning, shaved a second off that with Cornado and Dutchman Harrie Smolders also sneaked ahead of the Irishman. Last in, Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels galloped through the timers in 37.10 seconds with Gancia to snatch the €264,000 winner’s purse while Allen earned €80,000 for fourth place.
