Google’s Twohill gives back to her Irish alma mater

-

Lorraine Twohill, senior vice president of global marketing at Google, has gifted an endowed scholarship to her old college, Dublin City University, to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds in accessing a university education.

Ms Twohill graduated from DCU with a honour’s degree in international marketing and languages. The scholarship will be named after her mother, Teresa Twohill, who passed away 20 years ago. The fund will support at least one female undergraduate access student each year.

The Google executive made the announcement in San Francisco, where she was presented with The Ireland Funds’ Distinguished Leadership Award for her business accomplishments and her philanthropy.

VIPs at the San Francisco event included philanthropist, and fellow DCU benefactor, Chuck Feeney, who was honoured by The Ireland Funds in 2016.
