STAT ATTACK: RACING POST ARKLE CHASE (2.10)

-

WESTERN WARHORSE caused a big shock when winning the Arkle Chase at 33/1 in 2014, having traded at 999/1 at one stage in-running on Betfair. But generally speaking, it’s been a punter-friendly race.

In the last 20 years, there’s been just two winners at double figure odds, namely Western Warhorse and Flagship Uberalles (1999). The clear favourite has won five of the last six renewals which might give backers of Willie Mullins’ (below) Footpad some confidence today.

As you’d expect, it takes a classy sort to win, with five of the last six winners rated above 160. Footpad (162), is the only entry with an official rating above 160 this year. Saint Calvados is next on 160 while 66/1 outsider Robinshill is on 142.
