CONFIDENT QUIGLEY TO ‘MAKE A LOT OF NOISE’

-

JASON QUIGLEY says he’ll be ready for an attack on the world’s top 160-pounders in 2018.

The unbeaten Irish middleweight (13-0, 10 KOs) faces Puerto Rican Daniel Rosario (11-3, 10 KOs) in an eight-rounder in Quincy after a year off due to a broken right hand. Quigley, ranked sixth by the WBC, has some lost time to make up for. “2018 is the year where I make a lot of noise,” the Donegal man said. “I need to get up the ladder and get ready to contend for world titles.”

Quigley, a former decorated amateur, has switched his training base from Los Angeles to Sheffield.

Time off has enabled him to make some significant changes, but his ultimate goal remains the same.

He said: “I want to be World Champion and I will be World Champion. It’s only a matter of time. But I can’t be looking well ahead of myself. I can only look at Daniel Rosario. If I don’t get rid of him, I’m a few steps back, and I don’t plan for that. “Every fight now is a world title fight and I need to get in there and take care of the business.”

The Golden Boy Promotions prospect is trained by Dominic Ingle, having had Manny Robles in his corner for his first 13 bouts as a pro.

After a training camp that included sparring with Kell Brook and Liam Williams, Quigley is ready for action. He said: “I’m coming in now with full confidence behind me. I’m back to doing what I do best – skilful boxing. I’ll show that on fight night.”

Mayo lightweight Ray Moylette (8-0, 3KOs) is also on the card, as he faces Irish-American Matt Doherty in a six-round fight. Moylette said: “I’ve never been so confident. It won’t go to the final bell.”
