Ronaldo scores in 10th straight game as Real held by Atletico

- Jamie Holland

ANTOINE Griezmann forced a 1-1 derby draw between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid at the Bernabeu but neither will be satisfied with a share of the points as Barcelona close in on the title.

Cristiano Ronaldo, scoring in his tenth straight game for Real, broke the deadlock early in the second half, but Griezmann equalised four minutes later.

Atletico are now 11 points behind Barcelona and look highly unlikely to catch the Catalans with only seven games remaining.

Earlier, Levante moved eight points clear of the relegation zone after a last-gasp 2-1 win over Las Palmas, despite finishing with nine men at Ciudad de Valencia.

Coke gave the hosts the lead in the 35th minute but it was cancelled out five minutes after half-time by David Garcia.

Las Palmas found themselves with a man advantage four minutes from time when Coke was shown a second yellow card.

WINNER

Jose Campana scored the winner two minutes into stoppage time and there was still time for Ruben Rochina to be sent off.

On Saturday Barcelona equalled a La Liga record in their win over Leganes. Their 3-1 victory, secured by the 45th hat-trick of Lionel Messi’s career, saw them match Real Sociedad’s all-time record of 38 successive La Liga games without defeat.

In Serie A, Paulo Dybala scored a hat-trick, including two penalties, as Juventus beat Benevento 4-2 to stay four points clear of Napoli at the top.

The Argentina striker put Juve ahead in the 16th minute before adding spot-kicks either side of half-time. Douglas Costa’s unstoppable 22-yard drive in the 82nd minute sealed a hard-fought win for the reigning champions.

Napoli struck twice in the last two minutes through Arkadiusz Milik and Amadou Diarra to defeat Chievo at the San Paolo after Mariusz Stepinski had put the visitors in front.

In Germany, Jupp Heynckes hailed the collective effort of his team as Bayern Munich delivered their sixth straight Bundesliga title with a 4-1 win at Augsburg.

“The coach is responsible for the big picture, but first and foremost the players are the protagonists. Everyone played their part in the success,” Heynckes said.
