AI and data protection jobs boost for regions
SOFTWARE company Live Tiles is to create up to 50 jobs at a new Sligo innovation centre, which will support the further development of its design and artificial intelligence (AI) products.
The jobs, which are supported by the Government through IDA Ireland, are being created across a number of roles including AI developers, marketing, management, pre-sales, and a new product solutions team that will create industry-specific digital platforms that incorporate AI.
Describing the announcement as a “wonderful opportunity”, Live Tiles co-founder and CEO Karl Redenbach said that there is “an up-and-coming technology scene here, and we look forward to working with technology businesses, universities and Microsoft in Ireland to expand our AI agenda”.
The announcement was welcomed by Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys, who said it was a “wonderful regional investment” and “a great vote of confidence in Sligo and the north-west region”.
Founded in 2014 and headquartered in New York, Live Tiles is a Microsoft partner that says it is defining the market for the Intelligent Experience Platform (IXP) – with so called “drag and drop” technology that makes it easier for business users to create easily adoptable dashboards, portals or corporate intranets and enhance them with personalised artificial intelligence and analytics features.
Its customers include some of the biggest organisations in the world including Pepsi and the US Department of Defence. The announcement was also welcomed by IDA CEO Martin Shanahan.
Meanwhile, in Skibbereen, Co Cork, Spearline, a phone number testing software provider, plans to create 30 jobs this year as it diversifies its business offering with the launch of a new company, Spearline Risk and Compliance, along with its new software solution Spearline Data Protection.
The new software focuses on supporting organisations and Data Protection Officers in meeting the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements that come into effect on May 25.
The software solution will enable organisations to manage privacy obligations and meet regulatory compliance, Spearline said.
The company, which was founded in 2003 by Kevin Buckley and Matthew Lawlor has a global presence in 60 countries.
