Salah happy to stay at Anfield, insists Reds boss

MOHAMED SALAH has underlined his commitment to Liverpool as manager Jurgen Klopp banished fears about the Egyptian’s immediate future being anywhere but at Anfield.

Salah’s extraordinary debut season continued as he helped Liverpool into the semi-finals of the Champions League, and Klopp shrugged off concerns that the 25-year-old would be the subject of a massive transfer bid this summer.

Liverpool have made it clear they will not entertain interest in the player, on the brink of becoming the first at his club since Ian Rush to break the 40-goal barrier. Klopp is sure Salah is settled at the club.

There has been constant dialogue between the club, player and Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas, to ensure the relationship is protected. “I know that Mo feels very comfortable here,” said Klopp. “He knows that our style of play suits him very well. So I am not worried about a transfer.”

Liverpool’s owner, Fenway Sports Group, is seeking to build on the existing squad. While some will point to the Philippe Coutinho sale to Barcelona, and earlier exits of Raheem Sterling, Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres – all under the Boston-based ownership – Liverpool are evidently in the early stages of a new era.

Less encouraging is the situation regarding Emre Can, whose participation for the rest of the season may depend on the club reaching the Champions League final in Kiev at the end of May.
