Close to the mountains with easy commute to the centre

Hawthorn House, Carrickmines Green, Dublin 18

-

PROSPECTIVE residents of Hawthorn House, a new apartment block at Glenside in Carrickmines Green, won’t just have views of the Dublin Mountains — they’ll also have use of the development’s walkways and green spaces and an on-site playground for their children.

The complex, just off the Glenamuck Road south roundabout, was built by Regency on behalf of receiver McStay Luby and funded by Nama. Carrickmines Green, a series of apartments, penthouses and duplexes off the Glenamuck Road, was constructed in 2010 by the Hanly Group but the developer ended up being one of the final casualties of the bust.

Hawthorn House represents the first new apartments to be built at Glenside. The 14 contemporary-style homes are launching this weekend, with prices starting at €310,000. The two-beds extend to 936 sq ft and the three-beds span 1,076 sq ft.

The timber-framed apartment complex has a brick-and-render exterior finish, a balcony or terrace off each unit, UPVC double-glazed windows, and secure storage units in the basement. Each apartment is fitted with a BeSpace kitchen that comes with marble-effect worktops, and some units even have a separate utility space.

BeSpace also supplied the bedroom wardrobes, while the main bathroom and master ensuite have heated towel rails and contemporary-style tiling to the floors and wet areas.

An A-rated gas condensing boiler with multi-zone controls ensures the heat for each apartment is produced efficiently, thereby keeping utility bills in check. A heat recovery ventilation system removes stale, moist air from the kitchen, bathroom and ensuites.

Buyers won’t have to go too far to furnish their new homes: the southside Dublin development is next to The Park, Carrickmines, where Ikea operates an order and collection outlet. Hawthorn House is just off exit 15 on the M50 and the Luas is within walking distance. Dublin Bus also serves the area. The show-apartment will be on view by appointment today and tomorrow.
