Two new developments in popular Wicklow town will draw first-time buyers and families

Glenheron and The View at Glenheron, Greystones, Co Wicklow ASKING PRICE: €430,000-€495,000

AGENT: Sherry FitzGerald New Homes (01) 667 1888

WHILE the rest of the country continues to suffer a dearth of newly built homes, the fashionable seaside village of Greystones is experiencing the kind of mini-boom prevalent in the Co Wicklow town during the 1970s and throughout the Celtic Tiger.

This third housing wave has seen a slew of new residential estates springing up in the last two years.

The latest addition to the Greystones housing landscape is Glenheron, a scheme of two, three and four-bed detached, semi-detached and terraced homes. While 28 homes at Glenheron were sold after the development launched off the plans in June, a showhouse will open there for the first time this weekend to market the remaining four-bed semi-detached homes and detached dormer bungalows.

Unusually, this weekend will also see the release of its sister development, The View at Glenheron, which will comprise 112 three and four-bed semi-detached and detached houses when it’s eventually finished. While The View adjoins Glenheron, it has a separate entrance off the Kilcoole Road and is selling off the plans. Cairn Homes, the stock-market listed company building both developments, said it is drawn to Greystones because of its strong public transport links to the capital, access to good schools, and its appeal to families.

Ruchika Hassan, director of sales and marketing at Cairn Homes, said: “As there will be a broader range of houses available within The View at Glenheron, we would envisage this development being particularly popular with first-time buyers, young families and families looking for a little more space.”

Prices for the four-beds at Glenheron start at €495,000, while three-bed semi-detached homes at The View at Glenheron are priced from €430,000. About 30 homes will be available to purchase from both developments this weekend.

Externally, the homes at Glenheron are finished in a combination of natural stone cladding and self-coloured monocouche render. The stone cladding is offset by natural granite to surrounds and sills of the Carlson Alu-Clad Scandinavian windows and by a grey hardwood front door. To the rear of each house, large glazed doors open on to a decorative paved patio. The back garden comes with a compact shed.

Inside, the kitchen is fitted with contemporary-style European-designed units, Silestone worktops, soft-close doors and drawers, floor tiling, and a fully-integrated dishwasher, fridge/ freezer, and cooking appliances.

Heated towel rails and tiling have been fitted to the main bathroom, the master ensuite, and the downstairs lavatory. There is underfloor heating to the ensuite. A host of energy-saving features have contributed to the A3 BER at the Glenheron properties. They are wired for an electric car charging point, and come with roof-mounted PV panels.

Buyers with children have access to a primary gaelscoil and an Educate Together, as well as second-level schools such as Temple Carrig and St David’s Holy Faith. For commuters, the Dart to Dublin takes 50 minutes. The Luas Green Line service is a 20-minute drive away.

Viewings tomorrow and Sunday from 12pm to 2pm, while the plans for The View at Glenheron can be inspected from an information suite.
