Six teams and four clubs battle it out for underage glory at Sportsground

-

THIS Sunday is one of the biggest of the year for Boys Youths Rugby in the province as the Under 14, 16 and

18.5 finals take place at the Sportsground.

First up at 12pm is the Under 14 final as league champions Corinthians go in search of a double with a meeting against Galwegians.

‘Wegians have been impressive in their route to the final, beating Monivea, Buccaneers and Sligo all by

18-plus points. Corinthians, meanwhile, just edged past Ballina by a point in the last four, while they also saw off Loughrea and Creggs en route to the decider.

Then at 2pm attention turns to the Under 16 final as Galwegians again take to the field – this time against Monivea.

These same two teams also contested the Under 15 Cup final last season, with Galwegians emerging victorious by 15-12.

However, they lost to Ballinasloe in the Under 16 League final earlier in the season and will be hoping to make it second time lucky for silverware.

The Under 18.5 final is the last to be decided as Corinthians take on Buccaneers in what should be a cracking affair.

Buccs are league champions after victory over Creggs in the final, while the same Buccaneers team also won the Under 17 League and Cup last season.

Corinthians stand in their way of a league and cup double, with the side seeing off NUIG 17-3 in the quarter-finals and Oughterard 25-18 in the semis.

All in all, it is set to be a brilliant day’s action on College Road, and the very best of luck to the four clubs and six teams.
