A 19-YEAR-OLD cyclist has died after he was involved in a collision with a truck in south Dublin.

The teenager was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following the incident that occurred between Donnybrook and UCD yesterday. The incident happened at the junction of the Stillorgan Road and Greenfield Park at 3pm, near RTÉ’s Montrose studios.

The young man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, but was later pronounced dead. The driver of the truck was uninjured. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Donnybrook garda station on 01 6669200, the Garda Confidential line or any Garda station.

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old Dublin woman is still fighting for her life in hospital after she was struck by a car on her way to work.

The young woman, named locally as Jodie Regazzoli, was about to start her morning shift at River Island in the Pavilions Shopping Centre in Swords on Monday when the accident occurred.

Ms Regazzoli sustained serious head injuries while trying to cross a two-lane road on the R132, just a few minutes away from her workplace.

Emergency crews, including Dublin Fire Brigade, immediately rushed to the scene. She was then taken to Beaumont Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

The driver of the car was not injured. Balbriggan councillor Tony Murphy said he is praying Ms Regazzoli makes a full recovery.
