Court of appeal for trader-uppers

- Wilkin’s Court, Walkinstown, D12

UNTIL the 1930s, when house building first began in Walkinstown, the area was one steeped in agriculture. Indeed, the name of the Dublin suburb is a corruption of Wilkinstown, a townland named after Wilkins, a tenant farmer who lived in the area in the 15th century.

Wilkin’s Court, is a nod to that agrarian heritage. The development, situated off Limekiln Lane, of 61 houses, duplexes and apartments, which first went on the market in October, is aimed at midmarket house-hunters. Of the 18 two-, three- and four-bed homes released at the end of January as part of a new phase at Wilkin’s Court, 12 are still available

– three three-beds and nine four-beds. Prices for the threebeds start at €485,000 for a 1,310-sq ft semi-detached type, while the four-beds range in price from €565,000 to €605,000, depending on the chosen style.

The timber-framed properties have a mix of brick and render to the facade, a front bay window to some styles, and cream-framed double-glazed windows from Rationel. There is a garden and a paved patio to the rear of each house, while the front driveway has a cobblelock finish.

Inside, the fitted kitchen is custom-designed and comes with a breakfast bar and integrated appliances. There are fitted wardrobes to the main bedrooms.

The A3-rated homes have gas-fired central heating, PV panels and a mechanical and heat recovery ventilation system. The homes are served by the Luas red line and four bus routes.

The showhouses will be on view tomorrow and Sunday, from 2pm to 4pm.
