Dream all-Irish final is possible but lots to do

-

EVER since Munster saw off Toulon and Leinster defeated Saracens in the quarter-finals, Irish rugby fans began to dream of a potential face-off between the two in Bilbao on May 12, writes David Wallace.

But nothing will be farther from the teams’ minds this weekend, as they embark on a massive weekend of rugby.

For Munster, they face a treacherous trip to Bordeaux and if you start thinking about finals, and the big carrot that exists there, that’s when you fall down.

Players and management will be focused on what’s immediate, and this game against Racing 92. The players just want to get themselves right for this one.

They want to make sure that they know their detail and be as well prepared as they can be going to the south of France on Sunday.

If we do get two Irish teams in the final, it would be fantastic for the competition. The Champions Cup always needs an Irish province in the final shake-up and to get two would be amazing.

The Irish support is always a real jewel in the crown of European rugby because the fans travel in such numbers, while they also bring so much colour.

A Munster versus Leinster final would have such an amazing atmosphere. And to have it in Spain adds a different dynamic, in a different market too.
