Nick’s double delight with an ace at Woodenbrid­ge

WATERFORD captain Nick Donnelly was celebratin­g on the double after he aced the eighth to help his club claim victory in the Captains and Club Officials event at Woodenbrid­ge

Waterford edged out New Ross and Castlecome­r in the third of four Captains and Club Officials events hosted by Leinster golf this week which also saw wins for Skerries and Castle Barna.

The Skerries team of Peter Counihan, Tom Phelan, Brian Sherwin and Damien Henry had 87 points to edge out hosts Laytown and Bettystown by virtue of their better back nine with Dundalk third, Ardee fourth and Malahide fifth at the Co Meath links.

At Palmerstow­n Stud, Castle Barna’s Andrew O’Neill (Competitio­ns Sec.), Ollie Scally (Handicaps Sec.), Dan Cunningham (Captain) and Ian Kavanagh (Hon. Sec.) had 95 points to beat Portlaoise (92) and Dunmurry Springs (91) for the top prize.
