Maguire twins make plans for life post-college
LEONA and Lisa Maguire are planning to move to Arizona after they turn professional next month.
While they joined Olivia Mehaffey in missing out at Sectional Qualifying for the US Women’s Open on Tuesday – Leona finished six shots outside the mark at Bermuda Run in North Carolina with twin sister Lisa three shots further back after rounds of 75 and 77 – they plan to stick together in the pro ranks.
Before that, the Maguires will join Arizona State’s Olivia Mehaffey in the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma tomorrow hoping to end their college careers by claiming the coveted national title next Wednesday afternoon.
Leona was ranked No 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for a record 135 weeks and while she has ten collegiate wins, she wants to celebrate the end of her four years with sister Lisa at Duke by “putting the cherry on top” by winning the NCAA crown.
