‘CUSHIE’ THE ONE TO BEAT IN UNRACED HEATS

-

FOLLOWING his unbeaten route in the €10,000 Red Mills Unraced Stake the John Codd-trained Cushie Jet is set to continue his winning ways when he contests the second semi-final at Kilkenny this evening.

Cushie Jet has been footperfect in his two outings thus far and a trap-three draw should be ideal for the September ’16 puppy.

Last week Droopys Saga gave him a big run for the honours and is again a rival this time. However, Cushie Jet (9.12) is nominated to lead all the way and to lead home Droopys Saga and the well-drawn Sober Bigmac.

Liam Dowling’s bitch Ballymac Arminta (9.0) is also unbeaten in the competition and she can maintain her winning progress in the first heat. Droopys Policy is the likely danger but Arminta can be too strong for her opposition.

The majority of Ireland’s top sprinters will go into action in the semi-finals of the Islandbridge Open Sprint and a cracking first heat can see a major battle between sprinter of the year Butterbridge Bex, Churchtown Vic and Jazz Tune.

The Denis Fitzgerald-trained Churchtown Vic lost vital ground at the start last week and a trap-one draw can see him lead home Butterbridge Bex and Jazz Tune.

Last week Mossie Boy held off Portmageewiseguy by a short head but the latter, trained by Owen McKenna, (9.10) can reverse those placings in the second heat. Rosbirr Ranger is a threat.
