First-time buyers go further afield

Meadowlands, Macroom, Co Cork

-

MEADOWLANDS, a development on the edge of the Co Cork market town of Macroom, has proved popular with buyers qualifying for the first-time buyers’ tax rebate and commuters working at EMC-Dell in Ballincollig, less than a half-hour’s drive away.

The first phase of a new 36-unit section of Meadowlands, called The Gearagh after a nearby submerged glacial woodland, sold quickly in the wake of its February launch, with just one property, a two-bed priced from €190,000, remaining. The selling agents have just released the second phase, which consists of six three and four-bed semi-detached properties and is selling off the plans.

Prices for the latest tranche start at €234,500 for a three-bed semi measuring 1,086 sq ft and at €268,500 for a four-bed semi with 1,425 sq ft of living space.

Externally, the contemporary-style houses have slate-effect roof tilling, double-glazed PVC windows throughout, and rear French doors (where applicable). Inside, there are modern fitted units and flooring to the kitchen, white sanitaryware to the bathrooms, and a fitted stove in the living room. Buyers of the houses, which each have a minimum BER of A3, can opt to add underfloor heating for an extra €4,500.

Meadowlands is a 10-minute walk from the centre of Macroom. The development can be accessed via the town centre or by the Mill Road. The town itself has three primary schools and three secondary schools, and is home to Macroom Castle Demesne, a 40-ac riverside parkland and golf course.

Viewings will take place from 11am to 11.45am tomorrow and tomorrow week. Enquiries to: Global Properties (021) 4877133
