Dart commuters warned of major disruption­s after fire

THOUSANDS of Dart passengers are facing major disruption to services for most of the coming week following a fire at a signalling equipment room.

Irish Rail said there will be no rail services between Greystones and Bray from today until Friday with a reduced timetable and capacity between Bray and Dalkey.

A limited bus transfer service will be available between Greystones and Bray for Dart services.

For passengers travelling on services from Dublin to Rosslare and Wexford there will be bus transfers between Greystones and Bray, Dún Laoghaire and Connolly Station.

There will also be severe disruption­s to morning and evening peak-time services with a drasticall­y curtailed timetable.

During the morning peak hours there will be only five northbound Darts from Bray – the 6.30am to Howth, 7am to Howth, 7.30am to Connolly, 8am to Connolly and 8.30am to Connolly.

Southbound Dart services will terminate in Dalkey.

During off-peak hours from 9am to 4pm, a Dart service will run from Bray to Dalkey each hour on the hour, with a return service every hour on the half hour. During the evening peak hours, there will be only five Darts from Dalkey to Bray starting at 5pm and running until 6.41pm. Full Dart services will operate between Howth/Malahide and Dalkey.

The fire, which caused significan­t damage to a signalling equipment room in Bray, broke out on Friday night.

It caused all rail services to be suspended between Dalkey and Greystones over the weekend.

The cause of the blaze is being investigat­ed, however it is not believed to be the result of vandalism.
