Hawe blows away Fermanagh

-

EOGHAN HAWE scored both goals as Derry produced a storming second-half display to blow away Fermanagh at the Athletic Grounds.

Derry led 0-3 to 0-2 after a listless, error-strewn first half. Points from Conleth McGuckin and Enda Downey gave the Oakleafers an early lead before Darragh McBrien replied with a free in the 11th minute. Aaron McHugh had levelled matters by the 26th minute, before a second from Downey edged Derry in front by the break.

With the wind at their backs, Derry were imperious after the interval. Enda Downey set the tone with a point just 10 seconds in and further points from Shea Murray and man of the match Eunan McElhennon stretched the lead before Hawe’s first goal put Derry 1-7 to 0-4 ahead.

Hawe’s second goal, this time from the penalty spot, sealed the deal for Derry as early as the 48th minute and McElhennon’s point late on confirmed the Oakleaf victory.
