Putting your children at rear-window risk; award winner; new dealers; Fiat price plan

THE few sunny days always brings out the carelessness in us.

I mean, how can you let a young rear-seat passenger lean out the window unrestrained while on the move?

It goes beyond rational thinking.

Yet I came across not one, but three instances of it over the past few days.

I’d say the oldest of the children was eight or nine, and the youngest six or seven (trying to eat an ice cream at the same time).

I found it hard to believe. That is how tragedies occur. That is how a day out becomes a death in the family.

I just can’t understand how parents can be so lax sometimes.

Shouting at the children while driving makes things even worse.

There is only one way. Make sure the windows and doors cannot be opened and no there’s driving unless everyone is properly seated.

I’m sorry for sounding like a dictator, but if that’s what it takes to save someone from injury or worse, so be it.

Children take their cues from adults, so we’ve got to send the right signals.

Volvo plans to eliminate diesel from their its S60 saloon. It will be the first, when produced later this summer, not to have a diesel. Last month, the brand said it aims for fully electric cars to make up 50pc of its global sales by 2025.

There are several parallel events during the Ireland BikeFest.

Centred on the grounds of The Gleneagle Hotel, the Bike Village will be the main hub of activity over the weekend and will feature the Harley-Davidson Experiential Zone, Free H-D demo rides around Killarney etc.

Should be great and for a good cause.

FIAT here has announced a new pricing strategy which has petrol and diesel versions of its Tipo now costing the same.

The entry-level price for the Tipo will be the sedan Easy version at €17,995 (or the hatchback Pop version for the same price) for both the 95hp petrol and diesel versions (petrol 1.4 95hp; diesel 1.3 95hp).
