Sarri pushing for Chelsea job

- Matt Law

MAURIZIO SARRI has moved to the front of the queue to replace Antonio Conte at Chelsea after his departure from Napoli was confirmed yesterday.

Chelsea have been deliberating over a number of potential candidates, including former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, but ex-Napoli boss Sarri is pushing hard to land the job.

Sarri has employed an Englishbased intermediary to try to convince Chelsea he is the right candidate to succeed Conte, who is expected to be sacked.

Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti yesterday signed a three-year deal to take over from Sarri at Napoli.

Russian club Zenit St Petersburg have offered Sarri a £5.2 million-ayear (€5.9m) contract and want an answer by the weekend, but Sarri is waiting to see if Chelsea make a move. (© The Daily Telegraph)
