Winner alright at Newhall

-

EIGHTY years ago, in 1938, Rockfel won the 1000 Guineas and the Oaks, two of the classic races in England. The horse earned the accolade of ‘the perfect racing machine’ after landing the Champion Stakes.

Rated by experts as the seventhbest filly of the 20th century, Rockfel’s legacy has endured in the naming of a five-bed family home that has come on the market at Newhall, situated equidistant from both Naas and Newbridge, in Kildare equine country.

Owned by racing enthusiasts, Rockfel is near the M7, with the Irish National Stud, the Curragh, Naas and Punchestown racecourses, and Goffs all within striking distance. It is also within a short drive of the Kerry Group’s global headquarters in Naas.

The five bedroom property is set on a half acre with accommodation including an entrance hall with chequerboard tiled floor, sitting room, library, kitchen, dining room, conservatory and guest wc.

All five bedrooms are double sized and two of these are en-suite.

Notable features here include a Zanussi double oven and ceramic hob in the kitchen along with a fridge and a built-in Bosch dishwasher. Double doors from the conservatory allow access to the garden.

The house was built in 1976 and later remodelled extensively in 2006 and spans 2,852 sq ft. There is underfloor heating in the upstairs bathroom and the site is entered via electronic gates.

A big benefit here is the big floored attic room which runs to 25 ft in length, it is carpeted and comes with Velux windows. This would be suitable for home office use, a home gym, a games room or a teenagers’ den and social area.

Outside there’s a gravel forecourt with parking for a fleet of vehicles and there’s a selection of apple trees at the rear of the property.
