Wrinkle cream in my name a ‘total scam’ – Miriam

- Sorcha O’Connor

MIRIAM O’CALLAGHAN has confirmed she has nothing to do with adverts and articles appearing online promoting an anti-wrinkle beauty product – and that she did not give up her summer chat show on RTÉ to focus on this new venture.

“It’s all over social media and has been for months – it’s a wonder cream and oil and that is, apparently as the articles say, why my skin looks so great,” she said.

“Total scam, and sadly lots of people believe it and have actually bought the cream,” Miriam told the Irish Independent. “The ads are all over Facebook and other sites and have been for months. So successful is this wonder face cream and oil, apparently, that I have given up my job in RTÉ to focus on it.

“Daft, we know, but by using my image online for months now, people do believe it, as we heard on ‘Liveline’ today.”

Galway woman Vicki McNulty called Joe Duffy’s ‘Liveline’ show yesterday to report that she had recently purchased items from what was supposedly a cosmetic range by the ‘Prime Time’ presenter.

But Ms McNulty later received a letter from the financial crime unit of Bank of Ireland to discuss some suspicious transactions on her account.

She phoned the crime unit and was asked whether she had recently made a purchase of a product of €99.

Yesterday, Ms McNulty noticed more suspicious behaviour from the same account.

Ms O’Callaghan told ‘Liveline’ she was not involved with these products and has engaged her lawyers to have the ads taken down.
