Tributes roll in for Longmuir

■ Alan Longmuir, the bass guitarist in Scottish pop group The Bay City Rollers, has died following a short illness.

Longmuir was “one of the most gentle, generous and kind-hearted people I have ever known,” said a close friend.

One of the original teeny-boppers, and forerunner for boy bands.

What a shame. The Rollers were massive in the 1970s and sold millions of records.

In the immortal words of one of their greatest hits: “Bye bye, baby.”

And rest in peace.
