Clumsy views on discrimination

■ Frances Fitzgerald demands that the next cabinet have a 50-50 gender split. Because the TD population at large is far from being gender balanced, she is therefore asking the Taoiseach to favour certain candidates over others solely because of their sex.

There’s a word for that. It’s called discrimination – the very thing she clumsily seeks to eliminate.
