EAGLE-EYED Adrian Otaegui couldn’t believe his eyes in Ballyliffi­n.

The Spanish Civil Guard patrols golf events in military boots but the Spaniard couldn’t resist taking to social media when he spotted a member of the local Garda Síochána sporting – golf shoes.

It appears that when it comes to Ireland, everyone’s a golfer during Irish Open week. In fairness to the garda, the shoes were regulation black.

MARK FOSTER holed a nine-iron at the 177-yard seventh for the first hole in one of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open. It was the third ace of the Englishman’s career but it was a slog otherwise for the Worksop man as he carded a 77.
