JOSEPH & DONNACHA O’BRIEN AND MARK COLEMAN

-

It was a week that brothers Joseph and Donnacha from the famed O’Brien horse racing family and Cork hurling tyro Mark

Coleman will never forget. Last Saturday, 14-1 shot Latrobe, which was trained by Joseph and ridden by Donnacha, beat the best of what their father Aidan had to offer to take the spoils in the Irish Derby.

Meanwhile, Coleman’s star continued to rise. After a brilliant showing for the Cork seniors as they completed backto-back Munster titles last Sunday, he produced a man-of-the-match display for the Rebels’ U-21 side on Wednesday night to pick up a second provincial medal in a matter of days and underline his status as one of the most exciting young hurlers in the country.
