FILE this one under ‘bound to happen’. Weddings in the US are increasingly adding an additional plus one to the guest list – Tinder, Bumble or OkCupid.

In the same way that couples have traditionally invited the person who first introduced them to their Big Day Out, modern newlyweds are now setting a place at the dinner table for those dating app people who made it all happen.

Tinder gets more than 50 wedding invites every week, and has even been asked to provide office space at its Los Angeles headquarters as a backdrop for popping the question.

One guy pretended to his intended that he needed her advice on finding a new office to rent – only to open the door into a room full of balloons, hearts and a huge collage of their Tinder photos. Call it a tender Tinder moment.

I’d be more of a Killiney Hill or Ben Bulben kinda guy myself, but different strokes for different folks, I guess...
