GAME AT A GLANCE

-

Aaron Gillane (Limerick)

While the Patrickwell attacker faded out of the game for spells in the third quarter, it was his brilliance that put Limerick on the road to victory. The sweetest of mid-air flicks almost put Graeme Mulcahy in for a goal, before his quick hands sent Mulcahy on his way moments later. Took his own goal with a poacher’s ruthlessness and also contributed four points from play. TALKING POINT

How far have Carlow risen? Six days on from their Joe McDonagh Cup final it is unfair to judge them on this performance. For 20 minutes they hurled well before their opponents took over as their recent exploits took effect. Next season they face Galway, Waterford and Dublin in the National League, and they’ll fancy a crack off them. REF WATCH

Like the players, the sunshine had its effect on John Keenan. He cannot be faulted for missing some calls when facing into the glaring sun though, while he also dished out some deserved punishment when players stepped over the line. Kept the game flowing. MATCH STATISTICS
