GALWAY CALL FOR INFANTINO’S HELP
THERE has been plenty of fixture controversy already this season but Galway GAA took steps at the weekend to avoid their game against Kerry next Sunday clashing with the World Cup final.
In a letter addressed to the FIFA president, “Gianni Infantino, Uasal”, the message requests that the time for the World Cup final be changed to 6.0.
It adds: “If this clash is not addressed by FIFA then your worldwide audience will be diminished as many supporters will give priority to attending and watching the Galway v Kerry game.
“An additional advantage for delaying your kick-off to 6.0pm is that even if the game goes to extra-time and a penalty shootout, your game will still be finished in time for ‘The Sunday Game’ at 9.30pm.”
We await An t-Uasal Infantino’s reply.
