Metcalfe milestone in Ireland victory
CIARA METCALFE took her 100th international wicket in Amstelveen yesterday as Ireland cruised to an eight-wicket victory over Uganda and into the semi-finals of the World T20 qualifiers where they will meet Papua New Guinea tomorrow.
Leg-spinner Metcalfe returned miserly figures of 3-8 from her four overs, sending down a remarkable 20 dot balls, while Eimear Richardson took 2-19 and Lara Maritz picked up her first T20I wicket as the African side struggled to 78-8.
Clare Shillington continued her fine form in the Netherlands, topscoring for the third time in as many games, with a hard-hitting 27 before Gaby Lewis and skipper Laura Delany saw Ireland to victory with 7.5 overs to spare.
