Rooms with a sea view at Dungarvan

Castle Keep, Dungarvan, Co Waterford

-

DUNGARVAN, where the Comeragh Mountains and Colligan River meet the Celtic Sea, marks the start of the Copper Coast, a stretch of shoreline running all the way to Waterford City. And Castle Keep, a high-end development that has attracted retirees, holidaymakers and trader-uppers, enjoys a prime vantage point on the coast — it’s beside the town’s Abbeyside beach.

The final phase of the Friars Walk scheme, located a fiveminute walk from Dungarvan town centre, was launched at the end of June, and seven of the 18 properties are still for sale.

Three of them are four-bed detached houses measuring 2,500 sq ft apiece and costing from €600,000, and four are three-bed semi-detached bungalows with 1,150 sq ft of living space and starting prices of €450,000. All the remaining houses are to the front of Castle Keep, so they have sea views. Each property was designed to have an A2 BER, courtesy of energy-saving features like triple glazing and an air-to-water plumbing.

Castle Keep has direct access to the N25. Travelling east, the drive to Waterford City takes about 35 minutes, while, in the other direction, Cork City is a one-hour drive. The Dungarvan side of the new Waterford Greenway, a 46km cycling and walking trail on an old railway line, is a short walk away from Castle Keep.

Two showhouses are open every Sunday at Castle Keep, from

2pm to 4pm. Enquiries to: Denise Radley Auctioneers, (058)

42168.
