Secret buyer’s $500,000-plus Ford GT has landed in Ireland

- Eddie Cunningham

THE first $500,000-plus Ford GT super car has landed in Ireland.

However, the lucky (and wealthy) new owner of this 647PS powerhouse prefers to stay out of the limelight, we’re told.

Instead the car was ‘welcomed’ by Ford Ireland chairman and managing director Ciarán McMahon (pictured above).

The ‘Irish GT’ is one of only a tiny number destined for these shores.

Because they are so rare, the supercars have been allocated in limited numbers.

Furthermore, you just can’t ‘buy’ one as you do with most cars.

That means potential buyers have to go through a ‘conversation’ with the Ford GT team.

And the ‘conversation’ begins at the price of approx $500,000 – or nearly €427,000. Before tax.

Nobody from Ford here is involved in the process, we understand.

The Ford GT team does not communicate with Ford Ireland to let them know about orders.

Briefly, the GT has rear-wheel drive, a midmounted engine, and lightweight carbon fibre body shell.

Powering it is the most powerful EcoBoost petrol production engine to date.

It is the next-generation twinturbocharged 3.5-litre V6, which pumps a massive 647PS as well as generating 550lb/ ft of torque.
