How far will you have to walk?

-

■ There will be free travel on all public transport within Dublin for Sunday, August 26.

■ Dublin Bus has created seven dedicated Papal transport hubs (marked in yellow) on the outskirts of the Phoenix Park. Long walks will be required from the hubs. For example, the Castleknock stop is nearly 4km from the Papal Cross. Patrons getting off at the Chapelizod gate or Broombridge will have to walk in excess of 2km. Walking paths to the Phoenix Park are denoted by broken lines on the map.

■ The LUAS Red and Green line will be operating a 6-10 minute frequency throughout the day. The Red line will not run between Smithfield and Blackhorse due to the large number of pedestrians expected in those areas. Patrons will be expected to walk 3-4km from these stops.

■ Irish Rail will operate extra services on Intercity, Dart and commuter trains. The stations at Heuston, Broombridge, Ashtown and Navan Road will all be drop-off points for the Phoenix Park.

■ Special Park & Ride hubs for this event have been created in a number of locations where people can park up and then take public transport to and from the event. These are Leopardstown Racecourse (Luas), UCD Belfield (Dublin Bus), Maynooth University (train) and Fairyhouse Racecourse (train).

■ There will be a Luas stop operating at the Leopardstown racecourse for the first time.

■ Bus Éireann will be operating a weekday service throughout the country to bring people to the event. In excess of 30,000 passenger journeys can be made on the day on Bus Éireann.
