Mulvany set to‘ Go Again’ at Down Royal

- Thomas Kelly

ON THE GO AGAIN returns from a five-month absence to contest the €50,000 Plate at Down Royal today.

Michael Mulvany’s dual-purpose five-year-old won the Irish Lincolnshire at Naas in March and then registered an impressive victory in the Listed Heritage Stakes at Leopardstown the following month.

“He’s had a bit of a break and he might just need this as a pipe-opener, but we’ll see,” said Mulvany, who has one eye on a potential tilt at the Galway Hurdle next Thursday.

On The Go Again is the high- est-rated horse in a six-strong field, which also includes the Willie Mullins-trained Laws Of Spin, Joseph O’Brien’s Light Pillar and Twilight Payment from Jim Bolger’s yard.

The Ger Lyons-trained Bailly will be bidding to follow up his impressive Bellewstown victory of three weeks ago in the opening race.

Dark Outsider and Bakers Street renew rivalry in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase at Wexford.

Black Jewel went down by just half a length at Tipperary last Sunday and he is sure to have plenty of supporters.

Handicap debutant Port Rashid is another interesting contender, while the veteran Magnetic Force cannot be ruled out.

Henry de Bromhead saddles topweight Show And Go and he is represented by Judgement Day in the Ferrybank Opel Beginners Chase. This Martaline gelding won a point-to-point on debut at Liscarroll in 2016.

He has been ultimately disappointing on the track since, but was beaten by just a head and short head on his most recent outing over flights at Gowran and another bold bid looks likely now with Rachael Blackmore in the saddle.

Blackmore will be aboard Dorkas in the Opel 182 Handicap Chase and this Jimmy Finn-trained nine-year-old is likely to have plenty of supporters after winning last time out at Sligo.

Not For You is another sure to prove popular with punters, having won on his most recent start at Killarney.

Gordon Elliott is represented by top-weight Canny Tom and Soul Kaliber, while handicap debutant Sizing Rome is the other obvious contender.

Willie Mullins introduces Shush in the concluding Flat Race and this daughter of Flemensfirth is sure to go close under Patrick Mullins.

Meanwhile, Kew Gardens, expected to be Aidan O’Brien’s No1 contender, misses tomorrow’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot having returned a dirty scope yesterday while the Ballydoyle handler has put Ryan Moore on Hydrangea.
