Ensuring that the AP1 appeal form has all the necessary detail

-

IF a candidate wishes to appeal a grade after viewing their script(s), it can be very helpful to take some time to complete the AP1 form in as much detail as possible.

The AP1 form will be available at the viewing and allows the candidate to draw the examiner’s attention to particular issues they wish to be addressed. The examiner must then reference each point that the candidate has raised on this form.

Completing this form will be much easier this year as, for the first time, candidates may bring in mobile phones, tablets, or digital cameras to make copies of their scripts. They may not use these devices to take notes or communicate with a person outside the viewing centre.

Additionally, pens, paper and writing material are still prohibited at the viewing, so the following pointers may be helpful:

1

Request an AP1 form and leave it outside the viewing centre with a pen and note pad.

2

If you discover an error, take a photograph of it. You will not be able to take any notes inside the centre.

3

If you are concerned that you may not remember why you marked this section as an error (especially if you have found a lot of them, or your teacher has pointed it out) you may wish to leave the centre to make a note and then return. Always record as much detail as possible.

4

Do this as many times as necessary until you have worked through the entire paper.

5

Return your paper to the organising superintendent.

6

Transcribe your notes from the rough work page to the AP1 form, again in as much detail as possible, and request that the AP1 form should accompany your appeal.
