It’s not too late to apply to SUSI

-

SOME students may not have applied for their SUSI grant, despite believing they may qualify for this support. It is still possible to make an application but it should be done immediately so that, if the student is eligible, the grant is paid at the earliest possible opportunity.

Students can apply without having accepted a course and can simply put the course they they are considering on their application.

All students applying for a grant do so in the same way, regardless of whether they intend to enter a further education course, such as a PLC, or a higher education course, such as in an institute of technology or a university.

All students are also assessed in the same way, although the grant will be slightly different depending on which course the student enters.

Students should first visit the Eligibility Reckoner on susi.ie to find out whether they’re likely to qualify for a grant.

If they want to apply, they should visit the susi.ie home page, click the ‘Apply’ icon and follow the instructions.

Many Leaving Cert students will have ticked the box on the CAO form indicating their intention to apply for a grant.

If they had applied for a grant and ticked the box, they do not need to take further action, as SUSI will automatically be informed that they have accepted a course.

Importantly, if a student did not tick the box on the CAO — or if they have instead accepted a place on a PLC course — they must complete a Final Course Acceptance (FCA) by logging into their SUSI account.
