MORE ‘GOOD NEWS’ FOR BUCKLEY TEAM

- Michael Fortune

TRAINER Pat Buckley was the headline act at yesterday’s National Premium Unraced Sales when purchasing a daughter of 2017 Irish Derby winner Good News for Australian owner/breeder Peter Sutcliffe for a massive €31,000 and tonight he will be hoping for a big run from one of his main BoyleSports Derby contenders at Shelbourne.

The April ’17 bitch puppy Good Magoo clocked a brilliant 28.46 in her sales trial and she is likely to head for Australia once her quarantine period is completed. However, she will race here until that time.

Buckley’s Droopys Davy (9.57) contests the final heat and is fancied to step up on his first round effort when he ran into all sorts of trouble. He can see off Skywalker Rafa and Stonepark Noel.

Last year’s Derby-winning trainer Pat Guilfoyle has two of his three runners in opposition in Heat 14 where Cabra Hurricane

(9.27) has the early pace to lead all the way but kennel companion Magical Bale will be close by at the finish.

British challenger Droopys

Expert (8.42) made a terrific recovery to qualify last week and is strongly fancied to lead home McRazl in Heat 11.

Peter Cronin and Larry O’Shea have enjoyed great times with

Whoops Jack (9.12) and he is fancied to fly clear to the bend in Heat 13 on his way to victory. Other Derby selections are

Panther (8.12), Karlow Eddie

(8.27), Clonbrien Hero (8.57) and Buckos Dream (9.42).
