Sacred Shelf Space

-

For a tiny human, a baby takes up a lot of room and as a new mum, you have to compromise on your personal space, which includes your bathroom shelf.

But when space is tight, which products deserve to have a space on the coveted shelf?

1 I’m mad about Neutrogena’s Hydra Boost range — the formulas are lightweight and breathable and each product in the range packs a hydrating punch. My current favourite is the Neutrogena

Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturiser, €14.99. The formula melts into the skin and leaves it feeling soft and ready for your make-up application. Don’t let the lightweight formula fool you, this product delivers intense hydration and is a great buy for the colder season ahead. 2 As a new mum, finding time to wash your hair is a challenge, which is why volume boosters and dry shampoos should be your new best friends. & Other Stories Volume Powder, €12, is designed to lift flat, limp roots without weighing down the hair further while the store’s Dry Shampoo, €12, absorbs oiliness around the roots and leaves the hair looking refreshed and clean. The transparent formula means that it works for all hair colours and you don’t have to worry about any white residue. 3 Serums are designed to deliver a boost of skin-loving ingredients straight into your regime, but when space is tight, which one makes the cut? Firstly, ask yourself what your biggest skin concerns are and what results you would like to see. Then it’s time to choose a serum that specifically focuses on these issues. One that I have found remarkably good is Clarins Pore Control

Serum, €50. It’s designed to smooth the skin’s texture and reduce the signs of pores. The creamy formula leaves a satin finish on the skin and after a few uses, your skin feels smoother and looks healthier. 4 Regular readers will know that I am a huge fan of French skincare brand Avène. The products are gentle yet effective and it caters to all the family. Avène’s Cicalfate Repair Cream, €13, is designed to help heal skin issues like scars, burns and severe dry skin. The nourishing formula helps your skin to heal and prevent scarring. Whether you’re treating sunburn after a family holiday or caring for your little one’s nappy rash, this hydrating cream will answer many of your skincare prayers.
